He had a TON of double sided sticky auto sealant strips left over. Swore I had stealth holes in the rear quarterpanels or something to that effect.įriend of mine was installing new JDM tail light assy on his car one day. I cleaned the underside of car multiple times, sanded, primed, painted, and rhino lined the underside of trunk. I had a water in trunk issue for about a year. BUT I had an older impreza, late 90's model. I cannot guarantee this will fix all "water in trunk" issues. Keep your car dry for 24 hours (or more) preferably. Install your new gaskets/seals on tail lights.Ĩ. You can use OEM or auto parts store universal seals just make sure its sticky on both sides, obviously.Ħ. You can use rubbing alcohol if you'd like or whatever takes the old sealant off.ĥ. Clean all surfaces still containing old sealant and particles. Remove the molding/sealant on the inside of tail lights completely.ģ. Remedy for consistent rogue shadow agent water leak in trunk:Ģ. It's almost impossible for water to get in though, due to their check valve design and how they're shielded pretty well behind the bumper cover. It still would have to fill up pretty high top spill over into the tire well area. The lower area of that well has an opening to drain, and the only way water will remain is if that drain clogs and it can't get out. May spray some soap and run the a/c on fresh to pressurize the cabin and look for foam.Īlso for anyone worrying about the flap / pressure vents leaking. I will remove the seal and install another after cleaning then report back if it stops. but nothing chunky or large like leaves or debris. There is a good bit of dust/mud buildup under the edges of the rubber seal. I don't see any spots where the seam sealer isn't complete, but there could be something behind the rear glass on the lower corner. There is water further forward and higher up on the seam, so not sure that could happen from the rubber seal since it would have to go uphill. ![]() It seems to be leaking at the area where the metal seams are, in that corner. Bumping this up, mine is leaking near the left front upper corner of the trunk opening.
